| Wear Comfy Pants I
invite you all to throw away your bathroom scales, buy pants that feel
comfortable (regardless of the size on the label), take time to become
aware--without judgment--of the body size diversity around you, and
find ways to thank your body for all that it does for you. Then think
of what you can do to nourish yourself with whole foods and self care. What
if rather than going on a crash diet before your vacation or the family
reunion coming up, you decided to nourish your body in such a loving
manner that you achieve new found energy and vitality. You glow at your
reunion and on your vacation. Your body size may not change so quickly,
but the result is an incredibly gratifying experience. If you learn to
love your body and feed it the way it deserves to be fed and treated,
the results will likely mean weight loss that fits YOUR body type and
lifestyle. Be Kind To Yourself How
do you speak to your body? Do you look in the mirror and say, "Wow, I
look good!" or do you look for the parts that may not be ideal - hips
too wide, behind too big or small, chest too big or small? How often do
we call ourselves too fat or too thin or concentrate on the 1% that is
not just like we want rather than the 99% that is amazingly perfect. Pretend You Are Addressing Another Human Being Self
deprecation does nothing but bring us down. Imagine that you were
greeting a 13 year old child in the mirror each time you look at
yourself. Would you look for a way to lend a complement to that child
or would you criticize every little detail. Imagine the difference in
that persons day between a simple complement and an insulting put down.
Now make sure to do that for yourself. How much better would it feel to
be thankful for our thighs for getting us up and down the stairs, to
and from work, rather than critical of any cellulite that might be
developing? The Amazing Wonders of the Body If
we think about what we require of our bodies each and every moment of
the day, we would be constantly grateful for the fact that our bodies
respond to our requests. Your body digests whatever food you ingest,
your body heals itself when you get a cut or break a bone, your body
allows you to be creative, speak, reason, write, run, walk and the list
goes on. Experiment With One Small Change Pick
a new vegetable to try. Cook it with heart healthy olive oil and
delicious garlic. Switch over to some whole grains instead of the
highly processed white stuff that fills the supermarket shelves. Don't
forget to drink lots of water to stay hydrated during the dry winter
months ahead. And remember that by changing the way we eat so that we
are nourishing a body we love, rather than as a punishment for the body
we hate the results are incredibly rewarding and delicious! I
would love to hear from you! If you decide to make one small change
this month or work on your critical voice, let me know how it goes!
